Why Become a Cycling Educator? – “League Cycling Instructors (LCIs) are ambassadors for better biking through their education efforts. After earning certification through a three-day, League Coach-led seminar, LCIs can teach a variety of Smart Cycling classes to children as well as adults, helping them feel more confident and secure about riding.”

Central Indiana Cycling is proud to be a member of the League of American Bicyclists, and we support training more Hoosier bicycle educators.

Smart Cycling Prerequisite Courses – Connie Szabo-Schmucker, a League Cycling Instructor and Bicycle Garage Indy’s Advocacy Director is offering prerequisite on-bike classes on March 23rd and 30th, 2026. You can email Connie for more information and to sign up for those courses. The in person on-bike courses are in addition to the other prerequisite Smart Cycling courses that need to be successfully completed before the LCI Seminar. Aside from the on-bike courses, many of the prerequisites have an online option.
