As a kid I rode a bike to get around the neighborhood. When I lived in Muncie I got a new bike and was a Ranger on the Cardinal Greenway, even though I didn’t ride very far. In 2009 I started training for the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure. The plan was to do the community ride on the track, but that day I decided to do the 50K road ride.
From there I got started in triathlons, finishing my first at Go Girl (Eagle Creek) that year. I have now finished RAGBRAI three times, the RAIN ride, Amishland and Lakes several times, many century rides, more than a dozen half Ironman races, and Ironman Louisville. I am a USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach.
My career as a professional community planner means that I work with communities at the intersection of land use, transportation, and economic development on a daily basis. I have been fortunate to work for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization (IMPO), as well as doing consulting work for a few firms. I’ve done non-motorized transportation planning work in Indiana and Michigan. My experience as a cyclist and runner informs how I approach infrastructure.
