About the Advocacy Committee
Annual Member Meeting & Potluck

Early in the year, usually January, we plan a social Annual Member Meeting and Potluck. We enjoy the evening with friends, new and old, get a report on the prior year, and talk about the vision for the next year’s rides, events, and advocacy.January 2026 Annual Member Meeting and Potluck

Frequently Asked Questions
Do the membership levels have different benefits?

No. The benefits for Central IN Cycling members are the same across all levels.

The only “special” benefit is that Champion Members who donate at least $600 / year (or $50 / month) can choose to be recognized on the website and at the Annual Member Dinner. This is optional, and those Champion members may also choose to remain anonymous or simply listed with general membership.

Is there a membership for students or low-income residents?

Yes! Self-declared low-income residents can use the “Pay What You Can” membership option. The minimum annual membership for a low-income person or household is just $5 / year.

Bicycles are a powerful tool of efficiency and mobility regardless of someone’s income level. Central Indiana Cycling is welcoming for all bike riders, regardless of their financial situation.

Pay What You Can Memembership
I want to join, but at a donation level not listed. Can I do that?

Yes! You can choose a Pay What You Can membership option, either monthly or annual.

For example, this could be used to sign up for a $20 / month membership donation or a $100 / month membership donation.

Pay What You Can is also how low-income members can join. The minimum membership level is $5 / year for self-declared low-income members.

Pay What You Can Memembership
I was a CIBA member in prior years, did that membership carry over?

When CIBA and Bike Indianapolis merged in 2025, they both had membership systems. Those membership systems were merged onto one platform in January 2026. When that merger occurred, all the active CIBA memberships were turned into Central Indiana Cycling memberships with the same ending date as they had for CIBA. The membership and donation systems are both on the Better Unite platform.

Members can check their membership info and status using the Supporter Portal or by reaching out to us directly.

If someone had an active Bike Indianapolis membership as well, the furthest out membership renewal date was maintained.

Since they didn’t have a current active membership, lapsed and expired members were not included in that import. Lapsed and expired members were sent an email in late January 2026 with an invitation to set up a new membership in the combined system.

Lapsed or Expired? Rejoin Here!
Can people with the same address sign up for separate memberships?

Yes! While we no longer differentiate between individual and family memberships, that doesn’t stop multiple people at the same home address or within the same household from signing up for separate memberships.

Sometimes folks want to get their own members-only emails and not rely on getting that from the primary member or spouse on the account. Each membership also carries one vote for annual board member balloting and any items that may come up at the Annual Member Meeting or special ballots for members.

Membership via a company donation program or family foundation

We will need to know that your donation is intended for membership, and then we can input that donation manually as a membership or membership renewal. Please reach out to let us know that you would like that donation (with a date and amount) to be considered a “Membership” and not a general non-membership donation – or you can include that as a note or comment that comes in with the donation.

Without special instructions, donations that aren’t connected to the membership platform will be noted as general support and not a membership.

You can choose your own annual or monthly Membership donation level using the Pay What You Can option.

If you would like to discuss a larger annual or one-time donation with us, please reach out and we’d be happy to chat.

Can a taxable IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution be a membership donation?

A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows someone 70½ years old or older to donate up to $111,000 per year directly from a taxable IRA instead of taking their required minimum distributions. As a result, donors may avoid being pushed into higher income tax brackets and maintain other tax deductions.

Learn More About Qualified Charitable Distributions

Technically, a QCD shouldn’t be used for the annual membership. You should set up a nominal annual or monthly membership, and make a qualified charitable distribution as an additional general support donation.

Can non-members go on Central IN Cycling rides?

Non-members can join Central IN Cycling weekly and special rides, but they are not covered by the organization’s excess medical insurance for Members.

Non-members are strongly encouraged to join Central Indiana Cycling, to support the planning, communications, ride leader training, website and Ride With GPS costs, and ride leader expense reimbursements. These costs are all covered by Central IN Cycling membership donations.

Central IN Cycling members also have access to the Ride With GPS routes and turn-by-turn navigation linked to many of the organization’s rides. Knowing where you are going is important, and we don’t want you to miss a turn because you didn’t renew your membership.

Note – The Flagship Rides have separate insurance for all registered riders and volunteers.

Can I mail you a check or cash for my membership?

Yes. You can print out this membership form and waiver, fill it out, sign it, and mail it in with your check or cash membership donation.

Please use your best handwriting, since we’ll need to be able to manually enter your name and contact information into the membership system.

  • “Yazsh is ecstatic to sponsor Central Indiana Cycling. We saw an increase in business with bicyclists riding down the new cycle track on Michigan St. Central IN Cycling made the bike rack installation simple and easy. As soon as they were installed, we had a customer use them. The bike racks elevate our curb appeal. Thanks for helping the Woodruff Community shine!"
