Pedal and Park

Pedal and Park is a program that provides monitored bike parking areas at events in the region. Pedal and Park makes it easier for folks to bike to major events and festivals, without having to worry about finding a secure bike rack.

How does it work?

Companies, organizations, and clubs can sign up to bring Pedal & Park to your event. There is a fee that covers the cost of delivery, organizing volunteers, insurance, and coordinating bike parking details for the event.

You can simply rent the bicycle racks and supply your own bike valet parking volunteers, or you can sign up for Central IN Cycling volunteers to monitor your bike parking area.

Get your requests in as early as you can. We need to schedule around multiple events on some weekends, and a volunteer staffed bike valet takes time to recruit parking attendants.

Pedal and Park Fee Schedule – How much will it cost to get bike parking at my event? Fees are made up of three parts:

  1. Number of bicycles that you expect to park at one time: <250 bikes = $150, and > 250 bikes = $300
  2. Number of days your event will take place. One day, no additional cost. Each additional day +$50.
  3. Whether or not you wish to have our volunteers staff the event. $300.00 for up to a 4 hour event, and $75.00 per hour beyond 4 Hours.

Example – A large art festival over two days, 200 maximum # of bikes at a time. Yes, staffed by Central IN Cycling volunteers for 8 hours each day. Cost for Pedal & Park = $150 + $50 (2nd day) + $300 (baseline volunteer charge) + $900 (12 hrs x $75) = $1,400

Setting up a secure parking area – Bike valet parking requires that the venue designate a parking area that is surrounded by an event fence. If you are staffing the parking area yourself, plan on 2 parking attendants throughout the event, and have a plan for contacting those that don’t return to pick up their bikes on time. The parking area should only be accessible from one opening in the event fence, located  next to or behind the check-in / check-out table. The parking area should be visible for those arriving on bicycles, and communicated ahead of time in the event announcements and parking information.
