Ride Information
Families, children, and recreational bicyclists will love this leisurely bike ride through downtown Indianapolis exploring art, history, and more along the route. People of all ages, skills, and levels of ability are welcome to join us on this fun 5-mile community ride on Indianapolis trails.
This ride is a partnership with Momentum Indy and is part of the wider weekend of bike racing in Indianapolis. Stick around after the ride for lunch at the Garage Food Hall, browse local businesses, explore the vendor village, and watch the afternoon of exciting bicycle races.
This ride is great for families, recreational, and beginner riders. The minimum rider age is 6, and the youth rider cannot be using training wheels. Youth age 5 and younger must be in a child seat, bike trailer, cargo bike seat, or on a trail-a-bike. Most of this 5-mile is on multiuse trails and greenways, but we will be crossing roads and at intersections where it important that youth riders are able to slow, stop, follow instructions, and get started pedaling again.

Ride Route
The 2026 Mini Major Taylor Ride will start in the Bottleworks District (exact address TBD). Follow the Cultural Trail to the 10th St multi-use trail. Then we’ll bike past the Factory Arts Building into Spades Park on the Pogue’s Run Greenway. The greenway continues into Brookside Park.
We’ll turn around at 2.5 miles at the new pavilion and playground in Brookside Park. We’ll stop for a short 15 minute play stop at the playground before returning along the same route to the Bottleworks District and Momentum Indy festivities.
After we return, you can:
- Park your bikes in the free Pedal & Park Valet Bike Parking (open 9:30 am until 9:30 pm)
- Get lunch at a local restaurant or the Garage Food Hall
- Participate in or watch the 1pm Kids Race (ages 3-12)
- Check out the Momentum Indy expo area and kids zone
- Watch the amateur and professional criterium racing that make up the rest of the Momentum Indy Festival

Volunteers Needed
There are volunteer opportunities for check-in, pre-ride safety checks, and ride-along bike marshals. To sign as a volunteer, use the registration form link and select your volunteer role(s).
The ride-along bike marshals wear reflective vests and make sure the group (including youths) are able to cross the streets and intersections safely.
Thank you volunteers!
